Jesus in the Air is a contemporary novel of faith, family, moral burden, and homecoming after war.
Warren Harlan Pease is a young U.S. Army sniper newly home from Iraq. On a dark New Hampshire beach before dawn, he meets a barefoot stranger in jeans and a T-shirt. The stranger says to call him Ray. Warren knows him as Jesus.
Set over a day and moving between coastal New Hampshire and memories of Iraq, the novel follows them as they revisit the relationships that have shaped Warren's life: Bethie, his great love; Dodie, their daughter; Ryan, his closest friend; his distant father; and the mother whose death has shadowed him since boyhood.
Plainspoken, morally searching, and ultimately hopeful, Jesus in the Air explores war's aftermath, family, faith, forgiveness, and the difficult mercy of coming home.
