About the Book

Jesus in the Air is a contemporary novel of faith, family, moral burden, and homecoming after war.

Warren Harlan Pease, a young U.S. Army sniper newly returned from Iraq, walks a dark New Hampshire beach before dawn. There he meets a barefoot stranger in jeans and a T-shirt. He says to call him Ray. Warren knows him as Jesus.

Together they revisit the people who define Warren's life: Bethie, his great love; Dodie, their daughter; Ryan, Warren's closest friend; Warren's distant, grieving veterinarian father; and the mother whose death has shadowed him since boyhood.

As memories of combat and its aftermath break into the day, Warren confronts what he did, what he failed to do, and what it might mean to be forgiven. Plainspoken, intimate, and morally searching, Jesus in the Air joins Iraq War realism to the quiet tenderness of home in a story of love, guilt, mercy, and grace.
